Glad I didnt. Now that I know how to get it working, I'll just bypass the network set up in future installs (on this particular PC anyway) and just configure things manually. The driver has been confirmed stable enough to be active by default in Mint 12, Ubuntu 11.10 and future versions of many other Linux distros. I just tried a rebuild against 2.6.22 and it failed, but after a little digging around, I found a patch, and now it builds.
